Zacchaeus wasn’t liked very much and also happened to be physically short. On the day that Jesus was passing through his town he did something that changed his life forever. Zacchaeus sets an example for disciples today – it takes effort and discipline to put ourselves in the path of Jesus – but the reward is well worth it!
Bartimaeus’ handicap was also his livelihood – being a beggar back in the time of Jesus was a recognized part of the community. There was more to Jesus’ question of “What do you want me to do for you?” than what seemed obvious.
